Hello and a warm welcome to the very first blog post from Smith and Daughter Interiors! We're thrilled to finally launch this space where we can share our design journey, inspiration, and the stories behind our favorite projects.
Who are we? I'm Christie, with a background in human resources, and my mom, Laurel, brings her strong entrepreneurial experience from retail and home care and designer mind. We're a mother-daughter team connected by family ties, but united by our shared passion for thoughtful, timeless design. Our approach blends the warmth and character of antique and vintage pieces with carefully selected modern elements—creating spaces that feel both fresh and grounded in history.
As a family duo, we bring complementary perspectives to each project. Laurel's entrepreneurial spirit and eye for authentic period details and vintage treasures pairs beautifully with my organizational skills from HR and passion for transitional and moody traditional design elements. You can often find me with my nose in a book about recent world history (18th century forward) — a passion that fuels my excitement whenever we discover authentic pieces from these periods. Together, we craft interiors that honor the past while embracing the present—truly embodying our philosophy of "Heritage Meets Home."
